AmeriCorps is a federal program created
under President Bill Clinton by the National and Community
Service Trust Act of 1993. Individuals, groups, and corporations
join AmeriCorps to help with education and community services
across the country. All Habitat for Humanity affiliates are
self-supported and run independently of the parent organization.
For this reason many affiliates are understaffed and struggle to
meet the needs of the local community. Through the Habitat for
Humanity National Service program, AmeriCorps works are assigned
to individual affiliates to assist in operations, fill gaps in
staffing, and promote their work in the local community. For
more information, please visit

AmeriCorps National Direct
AmeriCorps National Direct members focus on direct service
activities with individual affiliates across the country. They
