Apostle BuildWhat is an Apostle Build? An Apostle Build is one where several churches join together to sponsor and build a Habitat house. It is a wonderful experience as churches of different denominations come together and work for a common goal. It is the Theology of the Hammer that describes where people of different backgrounds and beliefs come together and raise hammers to build for God's people in need, there are no differences between them and they become one in Christ. As you may know, a sponsorship is approximately $65,000 which is the cost of construction, not including the land and infrastructure. That is a large burden for many churches and simply not possible. However, when we share the load with others, the burden is considerably lighter and completely possible. In fact, it becomes so fulfilling that the burden seems to disappear. Where are Apostle Builds Happening? We are currently forming two Apostle Builds in Horry County, one in North Myrtle Beach and one in Conway. The Apostle Build for the North Myrtle Beach area which includes Longs, Little River and North Myrtle Beach churches will hopefully begin construction in late 2012. Call Eileen at 843.650.8815 to get your church signed up for this exciting adventure.
The Conway Apostle Build also hopes to build in 2012 and needs the support of several more churches, big or small. Call our office to be a part of this exciting adventure!
Your church won't participate? Not a problem. Contact our Volunteer coordinator and come work on our jobsite. Once you take your excitement and enthusiasm back to your church, they won't be able to resist joining the next one. (Thanks for your help!) |
