Family Partners

A family partner is someone who teams up with a new homeowner or a soon-to-be homeowner to help them become successful homeowners. There is really only one criteria for becoming a Family Partner: they must own or have at one time owned a house.

Family Partners have five goals:

  1. Serve as a liaison between the family and Habitat to ensure the family understands the requirements for becoming a homeowner: sweat equity, making a down payment, and attending the homeowner workshops
  2. Continue to stay in touch with the family after they become a homeowner
  3. Help the family find resources for child care, medical care, job training, and more
  4. Act as a confidante/friend and mentor by listening and being supportive, making phone calls and visits with the family, and help them through problems and home repairs
  5. Attend as many meetings with the family as possible

The Family Partner program is successful because families are better informed, connected, and supported by their partner.
